Have Questions About Invisalign® in NYC?

Have Questions About Invisalign® in NYC?

Thousands of men and women in NYC wish they had a smile they could be proud to show off. As a child, you were likely grateful that your parents never made you get braces. Many of us had friends who were teased and heard stories of how painful it could be to have them tightened.

As an adult, you likely look in the mirror and wish that your parents had forced you to get them. A little discomfort and embarrassment would have been well worth it, so you would feel comfortable smiling and showing your teeth. Well, it is never too late to fix your teeth and create a whole new you. Invisalign® offers a modern approach to straightening teeth.

Dr. Jackie Smiles has been the spokesperson for Invisalign for years, and is now the Invisalign Teen spokesperson-offering her NYC patients the chance to straighten their teeth without anyone knowing.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® uses custom-made aligners that straighten your teeth over time. Unlike traditional braces, these aligners are made of invisible plastic, and you just slip them right over your teeth. So, not only does no one have to know you are wearing them; they can also be removed whenever you want.

You will not have to deal with those painful tightening appointments either. Every two weeks you switch to a new pair until you have achieved your desired results.

What is the Treatment Process Like?

Dr. Jackie Smiles will provide you with a complimentary consultation to determine if Invisalign® is your best option. Your consultation is a good time to have any questions answered regarding cost, insurance, etc.

X-rays, impressions, and pictures will be taken of your teeth. Invisalign® uses this information to create a digital 3D image. This image is used to develop a precise treatment plan. You can even see a visual representation of your teeth at each treatment stage. You will receive your first aligners that you will wear throughout the day. Two weeks later, you will pop in a new pair.

What Cases Are Treated with Invisalign®?

Invisalign® can be used for a variety of teeth problems, including overbite, under bite, gapped teeth, overly crowded, open bite, and cross bite. It is ideal for mild and severe cases, and everything in between.

Is Invisalign® Inconvenient?

No one wants to deal with pain or excessive maintenance, especially those with a busy schedule. Invisalign® will not slow you down. They should be worn 20 to 22 hours per day, which means you sleep in them, so you will not forget to put them in before you run out the door in the morning. You simply take them out to brush your teeth and eat. They are easily brushed and rinsed with lukewarm water, or you can use the Invisalign® cleaning kit. It could not be easier to get the smile you have always wanted.

The Invisalign Method expansion led by Dr. Jacqueline Fulop-Goodling

Dr. Jacqueline Fulop-Goodling, better known as Dr. Jacquie Smiles, is at the forefront of the Invisalign expansion happening right now, not only in the USA but also worldwide. With more patients joining the Invisalign invisible braces method, over 500,000 patients have been treated already. The days of metal braces are numbered Invisalign is taking over, and with good reason.

The impact on kids is probably the number one reason for the movement away from metal braces toward the invisible braces of Invisalign. No more teasing from friends. No more adjustments by the dentist, who does not seem to understand that it really hurts. No more saying no thanks to your favourite foods. No more cutting back on your sports program. The Invisalign invisible braces are the future, metal braces are the past.

There is also a noticeable impact on adults. Those who decided as teenagers that they did not want to go through the pain and discomfort of braces, now find the Invisalign method to be painless. Not only do their friends not notice that they are wearing braces, they sometimes forget themselves!

It is no surprise that Dr. Jacqueline Fulop-Goodling is at the head of the professional orthodontists in this growing field of expertise. As a spokesperson for the Invisalign company, Dr. Fulop-Goodling has taught over 10,000 orthodontists, dentists, orthodontic residents, dental students and their teams in multiple areas of orthodontics throughout the world. Dr. Jacquie had the great pleasure of lecturing at the Invisalign lab in Costa Rica where she spoke in front of a prestigious group of orthodontists who are recognized as the top Invisalign providers in the United States.

Dentists at these seminars sign up for various lectures, but one must qualify to hear a lecture from Dr. Jackie. As one of the keystone speakers, she works with the top orthodontists covering the latest, breakthrough technology methods of the Invisalign Company.

According to Dr. Jacqueline Fulop-Goodling : Because of our expansion, we see a large number of positive improvements.

We have a positive impact on the communities, where we are offering not only our services to a new client base, but also offering new jobs.

Dr. Jackie Smile Invisalign Centers expand in the greater New Your area

Dr. Fulop-Goodling, better known as Dr Jackie Smiles, has expanded her current practices see addresses http://www.drjacquiesmiles.com/page/locations, branching out to nine more locations in the greater New York area.
Dr. Jackie, an Invisalign expert, is one of the leading figures in the quickly growing field of Invisalign ( the Invisalign Method uses virtually invisible braces, so unattractive and uncomfortable braces and wires are a thing of the past) and now many more people will have access to her Invisalign expertise. Aside from her expertise work at the practice, Dr. Jackie works also as a Spokesperson for Invisalign, gives seminars and trains Orthodontists nationally and internationally, and has several dentally related international patents.
It was Dr. Jackie who launched the Invisalign Teen Campaign on the Tyra Banks Show in 2009 a logical choice, as Dr. Jackie, a noted Invisalign expert, had been the Spokesperson for Invisalign for many years before that.
So why expand?
The need to expand has presented itself quite clearly for some time now, states Dr. Jackie. For me, there was a difficult decision to make. Should we expand the present locations that we have, or expand to new locations?
This led to quite a few brain storming sessions, where it became clear that both options brought a positive advantage to the communities and to the work force. However, we kept coming back to one key aspect which option is best for our clients? We decided to plot the locations of our customers, and saw that quite a few of our new patients were travelling quite a distance to visit us. Using this information, we were able to decide on several new areas. In nine new locations, we have joined hands with the local Chamber of Commerce and have seen very positive results in hiring local dental workers for our clinics. We have decided that, should we continue to expand in the future, we will also do so with the idea of what is in the best interest of our patients ?
So stop by, and ask to see the latest IOC Scanner, and how its digitally orthodontic impressions can give you that great unique Invisalign Smile http://www.drjacquiesmiles.com/

Sports Q & A!

dental-sportsBecause we know a lot of our patients are active and play sports, we wanted to take a moment to remind you how critical it is to protect your teeth, whether you are playing full-contact football or a game of pick-up basketball. Today, we thought we would answer some of the most frequent questions we get from patients:

Q: I keep hearing about a mouth guard what is it?
If you play or are planning on playing sports, it is important that you take special precautions, such as wearing a mouth guard. The guard will protect your teeth from impact and in most instances prevent teeth from becoming chipped or broken. Mouth guards are advisable for playing sports such as baseball, football, soccer, basketball, and many, many more.
Q: If I am hit in the mouth, and a tooth gets knocked out, what should I do?
1. Find the tooth
2. Hold the tooth by the crown (the surface farthest from the gumline), not the root
3. If it is an adult tooth, try to put the tooth back in the socket right away
4. If the tooth can not be put back in the socket, store it in cold milk (do not store in tap water)
5. Bite down on a gauze pad to relieve bleeding and pain
6. Call your dentist immediately
Q: Can my teeth be fixed if they are chipped, broken or knocked out?
In most cases, if you see a dentist immediately after a tooth injury occurs, the tooth can be fixed. Unfortunately, the long-term health of the injured tooth is compromised.
Q: Are sports drinks bad for my teeth?
Some drinks are bad for your teeth, depending on the amount of sugar content. They are okay to drink only if you are brushing on a regular basis.
Q: What can I drink to stay hydrated and keep my teeth healthy?
Lots of water.
Q: Can I still play sports while wearing my retainer, or is it best to take it out?
Because retainers are often lost or stepped on while playing sports, it is best to remove your retainer while playing sports and use your mouth guard instead.
Q: Can I still wear a mouth guard with braces?
Yes, a mouth guard is a must while playing contact sports with braces! Ask us about obtaining one!
We hope that helps! Please enjoy your sports activities and give us a call if you have other questions about protecting your mouth!

How long does orthodontic treatment take?

Your smile is totally unique, so the time you will need to spend undergoing orthodontic treatment will also be unique. Generally, orthodontic treatment will take about two years, and this is for good reason. During this time, your teeth will slowly move into their desired positions, leaving you with a great smile with as little discomfort as possible. Rushing treatment can result in a less than perfect smile with a greater chance of tooth movement after your treatment is complete. After all, we do not want to waste your time with treatment that will not retain your smile for the rest of your life.

Of course, treatment time will vary depending on your specific situation. Very minor tooth movement may only take a few months to correct, while serious malocclusion (poor bite) may need more than two years to correct. Based on a thorough examination and complete -it will all be worth it in the end! Orthodontic care is not only about beautiful smiles, it dramatically improves your overall oral and gum health.

Has your child or teen visited our office for an orthodontic consultation? If not, please give us a call and let us help him or her begin the journey to a gorgeous smile!

Manual vs. Electric Toothbrushes: What is the Difference?

There is a breed of people who drive a stick shift, use a push mower and prefer sailboats to motorboats. When faced with the choice of a toothbrush, that purist will certainly choose the dependable, disposable, do-it-yourself toothbrush. But what about those of us who swear by their smartphones, DVRs, and tablet computers? We want the latest and greatest gadgets and tend to be adopters of new technologies.

Regardless of the type of toothbrush you prefer, when used properly, both powered and manual toothbrushes are great options for removing plaque and keeping teeth and gums healthy. So what variables should you consider when deciding on the best toothbrush for you? Here are a few factors to consider:

Your budget
Electric toothbrushes are pricier. However, while high-end options can cost upwards of $100, you can find some effective powered brushes in the $10 range. Remember that you need to add the cost of batteries and replacement brush heads to your toothbrush budget.

Your dexterity
People who have limited manual dexterity – including the very young, the elderly, or those suffering from injury or arthritis – may find it easier to reach and clean areas of their mouth with an electric toothbrush.

Your habits
If you have a hard time brushing regularly, and you find you enjoy the sensation of brushing with an electric toothbrush, then by all means use the brush that will encourage you to brush most often.

Your patience
Regardless of what type of toothbrush you choose, it is important to use it correctly. While some brushes may require circular motions to be effective (for example manual brushes) others may require an angled glide over the teeth (for example power brushes). Brush twice a day, for two minutes each time. Cover the inner, outer and top surfaces of your teeth, and brush all the way down to the gum line. Don’t forget the hard-to-reach areas in the back of your mouth. Please ask your hygienists to advise you on optimal brushing techniques considering your toothbrush selection.

Finally, remember that while brushing and flossing daily will help you maintain good oral health, regular professional cleanings are also vital to keeping your teeth in tip – top shape. If you do have questions about brushing habits, please feel free to give our office a call!

What is the deal with coffee and tea?

We know a lot of people enjoy a hot brewed coffee or tea during their day. But what many do not know is that both coffee and tea are especially tough on your teeth, especially during orthodontic treatment, because tannic acid (the substance that makes the dark color) etches into the pits and grooves of tooth enamel, and can stain your pearly whites.

So, if you can not give up that morning cup of joe, what can you do? We suggest rinsing with a glass of water after every cup. If you enjoy iced coffee or tea, drink your beverage with a straw so that tannins do not make contact with your front upper and lower teeth. Even if you are not a big coffee drinker, we encourage you to swish some water at the end of each meal. Water, after all, helps neutralize acids left in your mouth after eating and also reduces cavity causing bacteria.

We hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions!

The Clear Benefits of Invisalign

We know image is important. For many folks, the thought of having metal brackets and wires attached to their teeth for two or more years may be more than enough to delay orthodontic treatment, or reconsider it altogether. This is why Invisalign clear aligners can be a great option for improving the look of your smile.

We are experienced in using this technology to give our patients the straight, beautiful smile they have always wanted. Plus, because it is so convenient, Invisalign won’t interfere with your daily life.

Invisalign aligners are clear, discrete and effective at moving your teeth into their ideal positions.
You do not need to change your eating habits, because your aligners can be easily removed during meals.
Invisalign aligners are made of comfortable, smooth plastic, so you don’t have to worry about taking care of metal brackets.
Invisalign aligners make daily oral hygiene easier, reducing the risk of possible problems.
Invisalign treatment is covered by most insurance providers, just like traditional braces.
A straight smile makes you look great, but it also can help you keep the rest of your mouth healthy. Correctly-aligned teeth can decrease health issues that can be caused by an improper bite. Misaligned teeth can cause speech or chewing difficulties, jaw problems, gum disease and increased wear on the tooth enamel.

If you have been considering straightening your teeth but are apprehensive about wires and brackets getting in the way of your smile, Invisalign treatment may be a great option. If you have questions about Invisalign, or would like to find out if you are a candidate for Invisalign treatment at our office, please give us a call to schedule a consultation.
